About Dogs Atlas

Dogs Atlas is an atlas of dog breeds: every documented breed, living and extinct, placed on the map where it began and on the timeline when it appeared.

We start with the first dogs at the end of the last Ice Age and follow them to today’s newest breeds. Each date carries a confidence level, because a founding recorded in a studbook is not the same as a legend about a king’s hunting dog.
